To test the product I did something I had never done before. I
put on the suit , went out to the Arizona Combat Games test site
and let my gunsmith John Rice shoot at me. I can tell you it is
spooky just standing there with no way to shoot back. He shot
some twenty rounds, most hitting me somewhere. One or two even
hit the chest. None of them stung. The suit works as advertised.

Designed as a protective exoskeleton, the Field Armor suits deliver
maximum protection for the legs, knees, male areas, chest, arms,
hands and the neck while allowing compete range of motion at all
the joints. Suits snap and zip close and are relatively simple
to pull on and off, even over layers of clothing. Suits are even
available in matching hood designs.

Do you enjoy the slight pain of a paintball hit and the resulting
welt? Some people do. For the rest of us, Field Armor makes the
protective exoskeleton, a durable, lightweight, weather resistant
suit for new players and seasoned pros alike. The suit is padded
everywhere it matters and even has a walkie talkie pouch, squeegee
holder, front zippered pockets and plenty of pod holders. The
chest protector includes inside mesh ventilation and a flap-over
adjustment snap so that players can open the suit for added ventilation
between games.

We've seen many paintball protective armor products over the years,
but this one tops them all, featuring an all in one design, the
Field Armor exoskeleton covers all the bases. It even comes accessorized
with all the valued essentials, squeegee holder, pod holders,
walkie-talkie pouch and front zippered pockets. Besides being
well armored and acessorized, it also becomes body contouring
with a few tugs on a few well postioned straps.

Now along comes Field Armor. These folks manufacture special suits
for paintball, in woodland, ghillie and Swat black. They also
make a two piece that offers the same protection but in a jacket
and pant set up. Field Armor is protective, comfortable to wear(except
in extreme heat), and convenient. You can take it on and off easily
at the field, changing to / from street clothes so you don't have
to scare the clerk at the 7/11.

Field Armor has become a staple name for protective gear in paintball.
Instead of having to purchase all the various components for paintball
wear (jersey, pack and individual pieces of protective equipment)
players can make one purchase and get all they need to hit the
field running. For the padding and accessories you get in one
exoskeleton it would cost $339.00 if purchased separately.

The kit is very comfortable. With adjustment straps at many strategic
spots, the lightweight jumpsuit tightens up to a form-fitting
camo outfit.
You can and will run, crawl, jump, and play some real paintball
wearing this suit. Designed to be resilient but with comfort and
protection in mind, these suits are truly awesome. If you want
to lower your bruise count, the Field Armor suit is the best way
to be protected short of observing the action from the parking
lot.

SSsh. Want to hear a secret? We think getting nipped on the aureole
by a gel capsule traveling at 300FPS hurts like hell. And while
we may get up, brush ourselves down and act like men, we're crying
inside. Let us be the first to stand up and say that wearing nought
but a string vest in sub zero temperatures only proves your own
stupidity, just as playing XBall in a thong doesn't make you look
any tougher. Wear your padding with pride and laugh at all the
welt ridden Neanderthals who have yet to bump their thick skulls
up against the evolutionary wonder that is protective clothing.

Stylish and armored, the exoskeleton packs quite a punch. This
armored beauty turns the oridinary into the extra ordinary. The
padded knees and forearms helped our man crawl out of an ambush
unscathed. Putting the armor to the test, we attacked head on,
Angel blazing. The result, paint and shell everywhere but no injuries.
A job well done.

Built into it are many player-minded features, including a perfectly
placed walkie-talkie pocket with a properly placed hole for a
remote headset wire; five guppy holders sewn right into the suit;
a stick squeegee holder; two zippered front pockets so you won't
lose your keys, cell phone, or Blackberry after you've accessed
the Internet from the new PMI Wi-Fi-enabled bunkers; padded neck
protection; and built in crotch protection (mmm, soft pad down
there). All this weighs less than 4 pounds and is really comfy.
Balls DO break on the suit so it's not cheating

SThe suit itself has my almost unreserved approval. This would
not be an article if I did not mention costs. To buy protective
gear that only comes close but falls short will cost even more
then purchasing the exoskeleton. Let me illustrate this by listing
some prices I took from an internet discount paintball dealer,
known for its competitive pricing(888paintball). Neck protector
$8; jersey $45 ; pants $55 ; sliding shorts $35 ; elbow pads $30
; knee/shin pads $40 ; chest protector $38 ; gloves $30 ; total
$281. Comparing, then, Field Armor at $179 is very competitive
pricing. .

Field Armor's padded suits are the sliced bread of the body-shielding
world. But while wearing the Exoskeleton will turn you into a
Panzer style brick out house, you won't be needing any caterpillar
treads to trundle through the woods. Despite the suit's comprehensive
coverage, it's not difficult to move around once everything is
strapped in place. It's highly flexible and a good deal lighter
than wearing the chain mail you borrowed off your friend who only
answers to the name 'Legolas'. In fact, weight varies from 2.75lbs
for the small up to 3.75lbs for the large two-piece.

The Exoskeleton fends off attacks aimed towards all vulnerable
body parts. Our personal highlights are buttox, crotch and inner
thigh protection; none of which can be highly prized enough. Nor
for that matter can the dual kidney
protectors, unless you're a fan of pissing blood – and you
never know when they might come in handy on the black market.
Since rain and all manner of other hateful elements are bound
to make an appearance during any woods game, the Exoskeleton is
made from a special polymer that is not only light, but also water
repellent and non shrinking. Should the sun decide to put in a
rare appearance, then thankfully this material is also breathable
and the suit is fitted with mesh ventilation. You could even save
yourself some money on a pack, as the two-piece suit has five
pod holders incorporated into the design.

You can use this for all players. For example, when 5 or 10 man
teams are practicing for tournaments and are commited to certain
positions over and over again without proper protection these
players could face injuries and massive bruises. Although Field
Armor exoskeletons do not fall within the bounds of most tournament
rules, you can still use them in preparation of that big game.

For some people the moment they hear about paintball they can’t
wait to play. For others there’s no way they are going to
ever try “that crazy war game.” There is a third group
of people though, those who think the idea of the game is fun
and exciting, but are afraid of getting hurt by a paintball hit.
For that group of potential players, the Field Armor Exoskeleton
may be the ticket to get into the game.
Players who have been active on the Internet since the early 1990s,
may remember the discussions of mouse-pad armor from the rec.sport.paintball
newsgroup. Field Armor takes that concept to a level of professional
construction in their exoskeleton.
